ARGYLE TENDER
The Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender was an annual and exclusive presentation of the finest and rarest diamonds mined during the year from the Argyle mine. The first tender took place in Antwerp in 1985 and consisted of just 33 diamonds. The following year, Geneva was added as a display location, and with increasing interest, cities such as New York, Hong Kong, London, Perth and Tokyo also became part of the international tour.
From 1984 to 2021, 50 to 70 of the finest pink, red, blue and violet diamonds mined each year at the Argyle mine were offered for sale at the annual Argyle Pink Diamonds Signature Tender. Since 2008, the most notable stones in each tender collection have also been named to reflect their historical significance.
This exclusivity underscores the rarity of Argyle Pink Diamonds. According to mine records, on average, only one tenderable carat was found for every one million carats of rough diamonds mined from the Argyle mine.

Limited supply
Only a very small percentage of all diamonds mined globally are naturally colored, and pink diamonds represent only a tiny fraction of these.
Natural color formation
Unlike many other fancy color diamonds, pink color is associated with structural changes within the diamond’s crystal lattice rather than trace elements such as nitrogen or boron.
Strong demand
The closure of the Argyle mine in Australia in 2020 permanently reduced one of the world’s most important sources of pink diamonds. Their limited supply, distinctive color and rarity continue to make them highly sought after by collectors and jewellery connoisseurs.
Rarity
Rarity is one of the defining factors in the value of a natural diamond. Exceptional stones are generally considered individually rather than by quantity.
Certification
A GIA certificate provides internationally recognized documentation. Diamonds originating from the Argyle mine should also be accompanied by Argyle Pink Diamonds documentation where available.
Time horizon
Rare diamonds are generally considered a long-term asset rather than a short-term purchase.
