Yellow diamonds represent the largest share of naturally colored diamonds. It is estimated that approximately 74% of all natural colored diamonds are yellow. Yet only a limited portion possesses the pure and intense color that defines the most sought-after stones.

The color forms naturally within the diamond’s structure, where the presence of nitrogen affects how light is absorbed. When blue light is absorbed, the diamond appears in warm yellow tones. The stronger this effect, the more intense the color becomes.

The color spectrum ranges from soft golden hues to deep, saturated tones. The most valuable are classified as Fancy Yellow and above, where the color appears vivid and concentrated without unwanted undertones.

Only a small fraction of yellow diamonds mined globally achieve a quality where color, clarity, and cut are in perfect balance. These stones are carefully selected and used in jewellery where the color takes center stage.

Botswana and South Africa dominate the production of yellow diamonds today.
